Break out the tissues. Terminally – ill 6 year old girl will receive a lifetime supply of christmas cards for what could be her last holiday.
According to CNN, Addie Fausett of Fountain Green, Utah, suffers from an undiagnosed illness that causes cerebral atrophy, which affects her speech and motor skills. The illness has caused Addie to weigh only 26 pounds, as she stopped growing at the age of three.
Addie’s family decided to ask for donations of Christmas cards so that their daughter could commemorate what could be her last holiday with greetings from around the world.
“She doesn’t get to play with kids, so we thought if everyone sent her a card, we could tell all her they were all her friends, and it would just help make her Christmas a little bit better,” said Addie’s mom, Tami Fausett. The family made a Facebook page to help fulfill their little girl’s wishes and soon later, seasons greetings showed up in the mail!
Get this, now the family receives around 1000 cards daily, with personalized messages from strangers all around the globe! If this doesn’t restore your faith in humanity then I don’t know what will.
“I had no idea asking for a card would spread so fast. It means a lot that so many people care that much,” Fausett said. “A card doesn’t seem like a lot, but to Addie it is so much. It is amazing.” Just goes to show that it is amazing how the littlest things can make a difference in someones life.
